Majorca.— Some hotels in Majorca are reportedly fully booked during these first two weeks in August and are expecting the rest of the month to be much the same.

Tourism agencies said this week that the demand for hotel rooms and holiday homes has increased considerably but that this is nothing but good news for them.

British boom “It's true that many hotels are at full capacity but it's also true that there are still a few at 75, 80%. It all depends on the hotels in question,” a spokesman for the local hotel association said.

British, German, Russian and Scandinavian markets are the ones which have shown the greatest growth, surpassing even the best predictions made earlier this year by local hoteliers and their respective associations. Hotels in Alcudia, Pollensa, Peguera, Santa Ponsa and the Playa de Palma are now according to tourism agencies fully booked or thereabouts, whereas Palma Nova and Magalluf have still some places available.

Calvia, Alcudia and
Pollensa lead the way
Tourism authorities confirmed the good moment the industry is currently going through adding that there are good probabilities that August will help compensate for the decrease in demand experienced in the months of June and July when the market shrunk by more than 10%.

In terms of residential tourism, Pollensa, Alcudia, Calvia and Son Servera are the areas with the most demand so far this Summer.
