THE Leader of the Galician government, Emilio Perez Touriño, was yesterday in Palma to meet the King of Spain, Don Juan Carlos, for the first time since he took office on 2 August. The King gave his full support to the development of Galicia and he confirmed that he would attend the opening of the Volvo Ocean Race in Vigo on November 12. The meeting was described as cordial, and Touriño informed the king of the political changes in Galicia following the June 19 elections.
Tomorrow, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia will interrupt their holiday in Majorca to attend the funeral of the King's Aunt, doña Esperanza de Borbon-Dos Sicilias y Orleans, aged 91. The service will be held at the Santa Maria Magdalena Parish Curch in Sevilla.
