Palma.—The card was to wish Lilian White, more commonly known as Lilly, happy 100th birthday.
Born in Tottenham, she lived her early years in Finsbury Park.
The family eventually left London for Essex in the late 20'sandsettledin Southend-on-Sea.
Then in 1965, Lilly emigrated here to Majorca with husband Arthur White (known as Billy locally) and daughter Karel and they lived in Las Maravillas, C'an Pastilla before moving to the centre of Palma.

Lilly was widowed at the age of 69 when her husband died suddenly in the Plaza Mayor on the 28 December 1982.
Billy had been a well known character within the fraternity of Puerto Andraitx.
In her later years she moved to the countryside of Llucmajor with her daughter where she enjoyed roaming the street markets and having coffees in the local bars, well into her 90's.

She always said that she would live to be a hundred, what determination.
Unfortunately she had a fall in 2007 and was hospitalised for a year, later on entering into the specialised nursing home of the Balearic Government situated in the Calle San Miguel, in Palma, where she is now, by just a few months their eldest resident. Although very frail now in health, she still expects and enjoys wheelchair outings around the streets of Palma and the Parque de Estacions, and even better is a stop in one of the local cafeterias.

Her only surviving brother Roy and his wife Gill, together with Brian a cousin's son and his wife Lesley came over from the UK to help her celebrate this achievement on Sunday.

She celebrated her birthday by returning home to the finca in Llucmajor for the day, where she will be more than happy to see all her beloved domestic animals, and hopefully her neighbours who all congratulated her.
