Palma.—Understanding between management and workers of the municipal bus company EMT have taken a turn for the worse and the likelihood of further industrial action is strengthening, EMT Works Committee President Andrés Rodriguez said yesterday. Company President Gabriel Vallejo said that the two sides were further than ever away from agreement but negotiations on how to avoid strikes on 16th and 17th of this month are nevertheless to proceed. A sticking point in discussions has been the increase in weekly working hours to 37.5, the elimination of overtime and the Christmas bonus. The latest round of talks will culminate in a meeting with Palma's Mayor Mateo Isern who recently brokered a peace agreement with municipal cleaning company Emaya.
