PALMA
MONTSERRAT Caballe and Montsita Marti, together with the Balearic University Choir and the pianist Manuel Burgueras, will take part in a charity concert to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Proyecto Hombre in the Balearics.

The concert will take place on Friday August 24 in Palma Cathedral and the artistic director will be Nacho Duato.
This was announced yesterday by Tomeu Catala, the president of Proyecto Hombre, which helps drug addicts, accompanied by the director of Human Resources, Francisco Valdes, and the director of Communication, Lino F. Salas, who also presented the new logo of the organisation and the anniversary party.

Catala said that the charity concert, which will take place from 8.30pm, has three basic objectives which are: the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the charity; to publicise the work of Proyecto Hombre in the Balearics; and to collect funds to further their work on the islands.

He added that the concert could be attended by 1'800 people and tickets would be available from Servicaixa.
Valdes commented that the stage would be well lit and screens would be placed on the columns in the central nave of the Cathedral to give the audience a better view of the concert.

In between performances, Valdés said, a person who had been helped by Proyecto Hombre, a mother and Tomeu Catala would speak to the audience of their experiences and thank the audience for their help and support by attending this charity concert. In addition to this, Catala confirmed that people from within the organisation would be helping at the concert as ushers and also manning the box office, amongst other things. He added that each member of the audience, as they enter the Cathedral, will be given a “commematory lapel pin”, made by various people from within Proyecto Hombre.

With regard to the new logo, Catala explained that the reason for this was for “aesthetic” reasons as well as its “significance”, as the new Proyecto Hombre image tries to explain the “reality” of the organisation and all the programmes it runs.

He said that the three figures in the logo represent the bases of their programmes which are, on the one hand, a person who comes to Proyecto Hombre seeking help, their family and surroundings, and on the other hand the organisation itself (therapy groups, volunteers and collaborators).

The anniversary will be celebrated on August 30 at the group's headquarters.
