THREE cycling enthusiasts will in September ride through the Pyrenees as part of the project Trans Pyrenees 2006 - 940 kilometres against cancer, aiming to raise funds for the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in the Balearics. According to the director general of the Balearic Government's Sports Department, Jose Luis Ballester, the project consists in selling the number of kilometres they will ride on their bicycles over a route which will take them from the Mediterranean to Cantabria. The planned route will take in the towns of Llansa (in Girona) and Hondarribia (in the Basque region), during a journey of 940 kilometres divided into three stages, which will start on September 12 and finish on the 24th. The members of the group, Alberto Anso, from Navarra; Miguel Sicilia, from Girona; and Jacinto Sanz, from Majorca have an average age of 40 years and, in spite of the fact that they are enthusiasts and not professionals they have been training hard and are eager to get started.
