PALMA
CENTRAL Government minister for Industry and Tourism, Miguel Sebastian, was in Palma yesterday to sign a series of agreements with Balearic President, Francesc Antich which will promote the Islands as a European reference point for the tourist industry.

Funding to the tune of 78 million euros will be provided to ensure the Balearics becomes the “silicon valley of Europe” in terms of tourism innovation and development. The three agreements related to information technology to give the region a competitive edge in on-line promotion and reservations; to communications so that the international holiday industry can access all it needs to know about the Balearic offer; and to tourism innovation so that what the holiday-maker can expect to enjoy when he arrives is constantly being diversified and adapted to the way in which he prefers to spend his money.
