PALMA council has so far this year invested 129'300 euros in renovating children's parks and creating eight new ones in the districts of Secar de la Real, Ca's Capiscol, Sa Vileta, Son Oliva, El Terreno, Coll d'en Rebassa, La Bonanova in Son Vida and the Levante industrial estate, making a total of 120 children's parks in the capital. According to Marina Sanz, councillor for infrastructures, nine new children's parks were also created during 2005.
The total budget last year was 315'500 euros, which was used to renovate existing play areas as well as to create new ones.
The children's parks opened last year were in Son Dameto, Son Buit, Sometimes, Rafal Nou, Es Forti, La Plaza Madrid, S'Hostalets, the Parque de Bellver and the Plaza Son Quint in Son Rapinya. This year a total of 70 parks will be renovated.
