STAFF REPORTER THE Restaurauteurs' Association of Majorca has written to the King, Don Juan Carlos, asking for his support in the promotion of Majorcan gastronomy. In the letter, the association pointed out the key role that the menus at the Marivent Palace (the royal family's summer holiday home) and the Almudaina Palace in Palma have to play in highlighting the quality of regional cooking. The visit of VIPs to the palace such as the recent one by America's First Lady Mrs. Obama and her daughter, was just such a moment to publicise it, claimed the association which is a member of the Balearic Business Federation, CAEB. The king was urged to give his support in providing a high profile to fine food and wine which distinguishes Majorca - and the Balearics in general - from other holiday destinations.
