Palma.—The emergency services are not being given a break this summer as yesterday, two more forest fires were declared in Majorca, the eighth of the past ten days.

According to the 112 emergency service centre, the two fires were being fought yesterday afternoon in the area between s'Arraco and Sant Elm near Andratx and in Sant Mari which is near Puigpunyent which was the scene of one of last week's minor bush blazes.

The biggest of the fires was the one raging in Andtratx but, nevertheless, in their mid afternoon briefing, 112 sources said they were confident both fires would have been brought under control by nightfall.

The Andratx fire alarm, was raised at 12.40 while fire along the road between Establiments and Puigpunyent was reported just 20 minutes later.
Units from all of the emergency and security services were involved in both operation and fire power was brought in to dump tonnes of water on the flames from the air in the difficult terrain.
