FOUR tourists, including a nine-year-old Belgian child, were injured when the last coach of the tourist train which runs along the Playa de Palma overturned. City council sources explained that the accident occurred shortly before 10.50am, when the last of the coaches suddenly overturned, for causes which have not yet been determined. The driver only realised what had happened, when he was alerted by the shouts of the other passengers.
A Belgian couple and their nine-year-old daughter were taken to the Clinica Juaneda in Palma, where their injuries were described as slight.
A foreign woman, whose nationality was unknown, was taken to Son Llatzer hospital, where her injuries were said to be not serious.
The train, which belongs to the Municipal Transport Company (EMT), was travelling at about five kilometres per hour at the time of the accident, according to the driver.
