STAFF REPORTER STUDIES undertaken by market survey group Quota Research has revealed that ham and tomato, potato omelette (tortilla), and pork fillet with cheese fillings are the favourites for people taking sandwiches and a packed lunch to the beach.

The poll was taken as part of the “Pan cada día” (bread every day) campaign which aims to encourage bread consumption whilst educating people in its health benefits. The inquiry showed that 7 out of 10 people living on the Islands (68 percent) acknowledged that they always took a bocadillo with them when they went to the beach or swimming pool, or if they went on an excursion into the country. Over half (55 percent) said that their bread consumption has increased this year.)
The results of the poll showed that women were more likely than men to enjoy a bocadillo, whilst with regard to age groups, the 35 to 44-year-olds were the highest consumers followed by the 18 to 24 age group.
