THE hottest temperature so far this summer, 37.2 degrees, was recorded at Palma airport but the highest so far this August was registered yesterday in Portpí where it edged up to 33.7 degrees.

The top temperature registered at Palma airport in July was 37.1 degrees and in June 37. But it wasn't the only point of the island which was sweltering in the heat yesterday. The Balearic University and Binissalem both recorded temperatures of 37 degrees, whilst in Calvia, Campos, Llucmajor and Sa Pobla, the thermometer climbed to 36. It was slightly cooler in the Tramuntana at 34 degrees.
