News desk WITH minimum temperatures as low as 10.5ºC, Saturday night was possibly the coldest night of the summer, although comparative figures were not immediately available from the Met Office. The cold snap which brought storms and torrential rains also brought down the temperatures, with 10.5ºC recorded at Lluc in Escorca, and also at Alfabia. The temperature was slightly higher in Porreres at 13.8ºC, similar to Mahon airport. In Sa Pobla, the minimum temperature was 14ºC rising to 16º in Porto Colom. Son Sant Joan airport in Palma recorded a minimum temperature of 14.2ºC; while in Porto Pi it was 17.4ºC. In Ibiza, however, the temperatures were normal for August, and the airport recorded 20.3ºC. There was a tornado at sea on Sunday, off the municipality of Sant Luis in Minorca, the Met Office said. It was observed on Sunday morning by staff at the observatory of Minorca in the control tower at Mahon airport. The weather forcast for today is mainly clear skies, with a slight increase in temperatures. Winds will be northerly, light to moderate in Minorca, veering to the west in the afternoon. Light westerly winds and breezes can be expected in the rest of the Balearics.
