STAFF REPORTER FOUR people were injured in the early hours of yesterday morning when the vehicle in which they were travelling plunged down an embankment on the road running from Montuïri in the direction of Pina.

Emergency Service sources confirmed that the incident happened at about 5.30am when the vehicle reportedly veered off the side of the road and careered downwards into a torrente (water course).

The four occupants of the vehicle, two men aged 26 and 27, and two women aged 16 and 21 were taken to Son Llatzer and Manacor hospitals. Medical staff reserved assessment on the gravity of their injuries.

In a separate incident, the Majorcan fire service reported that two people were injured yesterday in a head-on collision involving two vehicles on the Inca to Sineu road. The accident happened at 2.45pm at the 5 kilometr mark.

One of the victims was able to climb out of the windows unaided whilst the second remained trapped inside and needed help to free himself after suffering a fractured knee.
