Palma.—The new City Council under Mayor Mateo Isern is working on updating bylaws governing permits for bars and cafeterias in the city as revision has not been made since they were first introduced in 1980.

Under specific circumstances, regulations will allow businesses to make application to serve customers at tables out on street terraces. The City Council is keen that the revised laws should apply equally to all areas of the city rather than one area being favoured over another. New rulings will apply to the Born as they will anywhere else.

The food and drink industry has been calling for bylaws to be revised for some time and representatives have already met with the Council. It is hoped that legislation will be complete by the next tourist season to galvanise trade.
