POLLENSA
THE town council in Pollensa has not been slow to pick up on the regional Transport minister's comments earlier this week that if Alcudia doesn't want the rail extension to reach the town by the government's proposed Northern route, then the money will be taken and invested elsewhere.

Majorcan Socialist (PSM) spokesman on Pollensa council, Bartomeu Cifre, said yesterday that as long ago as November of last year, the council had been in agreement to urge the ministry to make the necessary feasibility and environmental studies for bringing the rail extension up to Pollensa.

Cifre said that the very evident reluctance of Alcudia council to accept the government's proposals has created a good opportunity to study alternatives. “Pollensa has to be considered,” he said.
