THE Balearic “Local Product” brand now includes a range of 460 products from across the region.
The Local Product brand initiative was launched at the beginning of this year in an attempt to promote local products and help local producers, in particular the agricultural sector.

Yesterday, the Director General for Fisheries and Agricultural Coordination, Fernando Pozuelo, took part in a special presentation of the Local Products range at the supermarket of the El Cortes Inglés department store in Palma.

Pozuelo, accompanied by the Director General for Fisheries, Patricia Arbona, explained that the range of Local Products includes a wide range of vegetables, fruits, meats and fresh fish and sea food grown and caught in the Balearics.

He also stressed that one of the main benefits of buying Local Products is that all of the range are fresh products.
The Director General also announced that the Balearic government is currently taking measures so that eggs, honey and snails can be included in the Local Product range. “The initiative has proven to be a huge success and it is going to prove vital to helping the region's agricultural and fishing sectors survive,” he said, adding that the range can be found in nearly all of the region's main hypermarkets.
