STAFF REPORTER SINCE June this year, primary healthcare services in the Balearic Islands have attended to 246 people suffering from the effects of excessive heat. Symptoms include cramp, exhaustion and heat stroke which signals that the body's own temperature regulation system has been pushed beyond its limits. July has been the month when most cases were treated (127), reported the Balearic health service Ib-Salut, largely due to the fact that it was a month with temperatures higher than those expected for the time of year. August, meanwhile has so far seen fewer cases of heat stroke as it has been a colder than normal month.
