THE Balearic University Choir were into their fourth day of rehearsals ahead of Saturday night's grand concert at Son Moix stadium when they will accompany Italian Tenor Andrea Bocelli.

The 60-strong choir will accompany Bocelli on ten operatic fragments and perform Nabucco by Verdi alone.
Joan Company, the director of the choir, is extremely pleased with the rehearsals and explained that they will be singing fragments from popular operas and popular songs such as O Sole Mio and Canto Della Terra. “With Bocelli we will also be accompanying him singing Cavalleria Rusticana from the opera Mascagni, Il Trobatore and La Traviata,” he added.
The Balearic Symphony Orchestra began their rehearsals yesterday evening and the choir and the orchestra will rehearse together today and they may well be joined by some of the other sopranos who will be accompanying Bocelli on Saturday night.

With regards to singing with Elton John, Company said that, in principle, the choir will not. “But there could be one or two surprises,” he hinted.
What Company did stress is that singing with Andrea Bocelli is going to be a “historic” moment for the choir. “The choir has been very calm and collected about the prospect because of its great experience, but that said, it's going to be a real honour for all of us on Saturday,” he added.
