STAFF REPORTER PALMA airport is being included in a shopping promotion campaign being launched this coming week by the Spanish Airports Authority (AENA). AENA wants to increase the amount of money being spent at shops, cafés and restaurants at its installations throughout the country. The promotion is initially being run at 8 of its 47 national airports: Barcelona-El Prat, Bilbao, Fuerteventura, Madrid-Barajas, Minorca, Palma, Tenerife South and Zaragoza.

There will be a total of 15 stands providing information on the scheme emblazoned with signs reading “Tiendas del Aeropuerto” (airport shops). Here people can hand in their receipts for purchases and if they have spent 80 euros or more with airport-based businesses, they will receive an orange-coloured handbag and wallet and if receipts amount to 50 euros, customers can choose from either the handbag or the wallet as a free gift.

The offer does not mean that clients have to spend an amount of 50 or 80 euros or more at the shops of just one airport. Receipts can be accumulated at different airport installations and then presented at the “Tiendas del Aeropuerto” stands of any of the 8 airports.

The campaign will run until the 30th of this month and there are 30'000 bags and 28'000 wallets to hand out.
