London.—Spain is no longer a happy country according to a report published yesterday in Palma by a statistics institute during the celebrations of the International Economy campaign. The Iberian country is now ranked number 49 in terms of happiness of their residents way below the top three Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand.

Despite the dark scenario Juan Tena, the professor in charge of the study suggests that some of these poles can easily be manipulated, which explains how countries like Iraq, Haiti and Afghanistan rank higher than Spain. "The new happiness ranking is based on what the people do, not what they say they do," Tena said adding that a country where everyone wants to go cannot be so unhappy. "The migration patterns are connected with psychology, related with happiness. Based on these results, one could more accurately measure happiness levels." Switzerland, Norway, Israel, South Korea, Sweden,Canada and Australia complete the top ten.
