PALMA
AUTUMN started last night as it pretty much intends to finish - raining - but the Balearics escaped the torrential flash storms relatively lightly yesterday after one person was killed in Madrid and traffic around the Spanish capital thrown into chaos with 100 kilometre long traffic jams because of widespread flooding.

However, we are on weather alert for heavy rain and high winds today, level 1 with the storms forecast to linger over the region for the rest of the week although easing in force from Wednesday morning but in the meantime, we are all advised to take special precautions, especially when driving.
