PALMA
THE newly appointed Balearic Minister for Employment and government spokesperson, Joana Barcelo, said yesterday that “the government has absolutely no intention of altering its tourism policy who ever is responsible for carrying it out.” The comments came as the dispute within the Majorcan Unionist party over the Minister for Tourism Francesc Buil's unilateral decision on Tuesday to sack two of his senior aids and fellow Majorcan Unionist party members without having informed the party rumbled on. “There is a big difference between government policy and party politics and that has to be made very clear, as in this case,” she said. “We have to keep a distance between internal party issues and the Balearic government's policies, the latter of which nobody is doubting what so ever,” the Minister added.
