STAFF REPORTER AN exhibition opened last night at the Can Prunera modernist museum in Soller of the works of local artist Juli Ramis painted in the 1930s. The pieces on show, which come from private collections, draw together for public viewing work which was completed by Ramis on his return from Paris. There he had engaged with trail-blazing artists of the day including Picasso and Matisse who apart from impressing Ramis personally, broke new boundaries in artistic exploration. Gallery director Joan Oliver “Maneu” said yesterday that the exhibition of Ramis' work at Can Prunera clearly shows the influence that the new transformation in art - and his time in Paris - had had on Ramis. For Majorca in the 1930s, the style of painting was quite revolutionary and had hitherto never been seen before on the island.
