Joan Collins THE third International Meeting of Painters is due to take place in Palma on October 1 at Es Baluard Museum. The subject of the painting is to be obligatory, part of the old city of Palma, with a choice of places including El Jonquet, Sa Faixina, Es Baluard itself, the Lona, the Borne and the Cathedral. There is no restriction on the medium and style of painting. The formats will be of a minimum of 10F and 50F (canvas, board, cardboard etc.). Those who have signed up to take part in the competition should go straight to the registration which will be set up on the esplanade of the museum of Contemporary Art Es Baluard from 8.30pm on October 1. Judges there will stamp and number the painting medium (canvas, board etc.) and a packed lunch and drink will be given to each participant. The paintings have to be finished by 4.30pm at the latest and presented to the registration table to be photographed and exhibited. The completed works will be exhibited to the public in the esplanade of the Museum Es Baluard. At the same time a designated jury, who will be made up of authorities, academics, painters, art critics etc., will select the works and award the prizes. The prizes will be announced at a Gala dinner on October 6 in the Sala Magna of the Pueblo Español, where the awards will be presented. Before the dinner there will be a raffle with many prizes donated by companies which produce artist's tools. All those taking part will receive the ADEBA Honours Diploma. The first prize is 3'000 euros, the second prize is 2'000. The third prize is 1'000 euros and the fourth prize (sponsored by Grupo Serra, the Bulletin's publishing group) is also 1'000 euros. There will be a fifth special prize and sixth and seventh prizes will be for “Older Painter” and “Younger Painter” respectively.
