PALMA
PALMA City Council yesterday announced that its finally going to set about tackling the problematic and controversial weekly street parties along the Paseo Maritimo.

However, unlike in Alcudia where the local council last week announced stringent measures and tough penalities for people caught breaking a series of new antisocial behavior rules and regulations, a special awareness unit is going to be tasked with trying to talk to the young revelers and encourage them not to gather along the sea front every weekend and party into the early hours before leaving mountains of waste in their wake.

The campaign will be launched this weekend and for the next seven weeks the special van will patrol the Paseo every Friday and Saturday night informing young drinkers about the commotion, distress and disturbance they are causing and the work involved with clearing up after them in the morning.
