A weekend long Rock experience will arrive in Santa Maria this month and is expected to attract many budding musicians from singers to rock drummers.
The Factoria de So building in Santa Maria will be hosting the Campus Rock Mallorca on 22 and 23 October, which will consist of six instrument workshops, six combos, a lecture and a concert. Around two hundred people are expected to take part in the rock weekend and learn new rock abilities from the activities on offer.
On the first day of the weekend (Saturday), the Campus Rock Mallorca will begin at 10am with a workshop for song writing, which will be led by Toni Xuclà and finish at 11.30am. At midday Josep Coll will be giving a lecture, in which he will discuss various aspects of the music industry, including self-management, self-editing and legal mattters. This lecture will last through until 6.30pm. This will be followed by voice, drums, keyboard, guitar and bass workshops at 6.30pm, which will include a blues combo. To end the day there will be a concert by the teachers at around 10.30pm. The following day Toni Xucla will lead an improvisation workshop at 10am, which will be run alongside a funky combo.
Finally in the afternoon there will be a creative workshop at 4pm, followed by the second part of the song writing workshop at 6.30pm.
The weekend at the Campus Rock Mallorca will cost 50 euros, and the 2005 activities will draw to a close in the winter when the Campus Autor is being held for music pupils to record their original compositions.
