Marratxi Council has come under fire from the small business sector after having decided to back freeing up trading across the whole of the municipality.

Palma.—At Tuesday night’s council meeting, the Partido Popular Council voted in favour of the municipality being declared an Area of Tourist Importance, which means that shops and businesses in the municipality can open seven days per week along similar lines in the main coastal tourist resorts.
However, PIMECO, the Association of Small to medium Sized Business in Majorca yesterday objected to the ruling, which Socialist opposition councillors voted against.
