Apart from the problem of Magalluf, Winter tourism was also high up the agenda at the World Travel Market in London and progress has finally been made.

Palma.—The Minister for Tourism and Industry, Jose Manuel Soria, made it clear to the UK’s leading tour firms and airlines that Turespaña, the Spanish Tourist Board has limited funds because of the recession and the government’s austerity measures.
However, in response to criticism from the tour operators that cooperation and  the relationship with the Spanish Tourist Board in London  has become virtually non existent, the Minister  and the tour firms discussed a new plan of getting Winter tourism back off the ground in the Balearics, in particular Majorca.
