PALMA
HOLIDAYMAKERS are being warned to be on their guard against falling victim to expensive scams involving fake Spanish holiday clubs.
Trading standards officers and Office of Fair Trading (OFT) staff yesterday began handing out leaflets at nine UK airports warning about falling for the promises of “lifelong cheap holidays in the sun,” offered by many of the holiday clubs.

The leaflets encourage tourists to be wary of the ticket touts, who hand out scratch cards offering a range of prizes to unsuspecting holidaymakers.
The OFT said the cards, which were rigged so prizes were won by promising targets, were a way to lure unsuspecting travellers to a potentially high-cost sales pitch.
