INCA
A 53-YEAR-OLD driver died yesterday when the vehicle he was driving was involved in a head-on collision on the main road between Palma and Inca.
The accident, in which the lorry driver was unhurt, happened close to Binissalem. Only hours before on the road running between Sa Pobla and Muro, another accident involving two lorries was reported. Although this time there were no major injuries, one of the lorries had pulled back from the brink of going over the edge of the road and dropping two metres into rough terrain below.

The fatal accident on the Palma to Inca road happened shortly before 3pm on a straight section of the road. The victim, identified as José Muñoz, was driving alone in a small Fiat Scudo van in the direction of Inca, whilst the lorry was travelling in the direction of Palma. It would seem that the small van had swerved out of its lane and smashed directly into the oncoming lorry. The speedy arrival of emergency services could do nothing to save Muñoz, gravely injured and trapped inside his vehicle.
