PALMA
YACHTSMAN and well-known island resident Malcolm Beer has lived on Majorca with his wife for the past 14 years but the call of Blighty finally lured them homeward persuading them to sell their apartment and the boat they had moored in the Club de Mar for all these years.

However, before the suitcases were snapped shut, Malcolm wished to make a donation to an island charity in recognition of the many happy times they had enjoyed here. Naturally he chose Majorca's local sail training association, Joves Navegants.

DELIGHTED
Yesterday morning, members of the charity were delighted to receive a cheque for 3'000 euros from Malcolm which will be a terrific help in keeping up the momentum of the organisation's work, which involves taking some of the island's most disadvantaged teenagers sailing and supporting those who display the greatest level of interest in the sea, to pursue careers in the local nautical industry. All involved in the Joves Navegants training association would like to extend their sincere thanks and very best wishes to the Beers in their new life back in the United Kingdom.
