Palma.—The Minister made the comments in response to claims by the opposition PSOE Socialists that the health budget is at least 200 million euros too short to meet the medical needs of the Balearic population.

Castro said that 1'302 million euros has been set aside for health next year and she claims that the amount is enough for her ministry to provide the population with the health care it deserves.

The Minister said that cuts have obviously had to have been made and that the 518 million euros of out standing bills left behind by the former Socialist-led coalition government have not helped Ministry for Health's financial situation either.
