The debate over winter fuel payments for expatriates hotted with the British government announcing  that the payments will be scrapped in 2015.

Palma.—The latest figures  show that the Department of Work and Pensions paid out a record  21.4 million pounds to nearly 120,000 pensioners  across the European Economic Area in 2012-2013 and  Iain Duncan Smith, the secretary of state for work and pensions, is reported to being furious over the huge jump in fuel payments being paid out thanks to a European Court of Justice ruling handed down earlier this year.
