PALMA
THE prestigious Michelin Guide 2011 was published yesterday and one of the new winners of a much coveted star is the Zaranda Restaurant at the Hotel Sa Torre in Lluchmajor.

The Zaranda Restaurant was first opened by the highly acclaimed chef Fernando Pérez Arellano in Madrid in 2005 and won its first Michelin Star the following year.

It was also hailed as the “restaurant revelation of Madrid” by the North American magazine Food&Wine.
However, earlier this year in May, the Hilton Sa Torre and chef Arellano reached an agreement to relocate the award-winning restaurant to the luxury Majorcan hotel.

It was a big challenge and the first time in Spain that an entire restaurant team has been relocated but it has proved a success.
After getting settled chef Arellano, who has recently joined the Bulletin's team of illustrious and award winning Majorca-based chefs and writes in the weekly Thursday four-page food special, had his ideas clear about how he and his kitchen was going to work. “In Zaranda Sa Torre we do our very best to incorporate the best Majorcan ingredients in to the menu while continuing to develop our dishes while our clients enjoy the pleasure of eating in a delightful atmosphere.” Ton Lodder, Manager of Gestion T3, the group which owns the hotel, yesterday expressed his great admiration for chef Arellano and he said that wining the star has given the hotel and the group “great satisfaction. “Not only is the hotel known for its luxury, but now the restaurant for its excellent food.” Zaranda Sa Torre is set in the heart of 14th century stately home and Arellano heads a team of 14 professionals in the kitchen as well as Itziar Rodríguez, Arellano's wife, welcomes and takes care of the clientele with the warmth, professionalism and care of a true hostess.
