Tourists have spent 8% more this year

The British and German markets have continued to give the Balearic tourist industry a boost this year with spending up by 18 percent last month.

Palma.—The figures released yesterday by the Ministry for Tourism, Industry and Energy in Madrid will no doubt be contested by some resort businesses which ended the season claiming that the only winners of any increase in spending this year have been the hoteliers.
However, according to the latest data, spending in the Balearics last month posted a year-on-year increase of 18.3 percent with a total of 923,000 euros being spent by foreign visitors.
