Staff reporter FORENSICS were last night involved in a complicated investigation after a decomposed body was found washed up on the beach at Portals Vells yesterday. The body, in a very advanced state of decomposition, was spotted trapped in some driftwood by a person strolling along the beach. The alarm was raised and Calvia Guardia Civil rushed to the scene but there was little they could do but call in the forensics. The naked body had no arms and only one leg remaining and there was absolutely no indication as to the identity of the body. However, sources close to the investigation have revealed that some alarming cuts were found about the remains. Guardia Civil divers were called in to comb the area in search of either other body parts or some kind of evidence as to who the victim is. Apparently, the body had been in the water for over a month, perhaps as long as a month-and-a-half.

Palma forensics now face the complicated task of trying to identify the corpse and early inspections yesterday afternoon, apparently suggest that the body may be that of an elderly woman.
