PALMA

TWO members of a Palma ambulance team needed hospital attention after being attacked by a patient they were attempting to treat late on Monday night.
The incident occurred at 11pm in Calle Trafalgar, Coll den Rebassa, and four members of the Local Police were required to calm and restrain the attacker who was apparently under the influence of drugs. The alarm was raised by a local neighbour who reported the man sprawled on the ground.

When the two-strong ambulance team reached the scene, the individual of South American origin, was not moving.
But, when one of the crew put a hand on the individual's shoulder, he apparently reacted extremely violently and began punching and kicking the ambulance team before trying to escape - only to run into a parked car. Again, he fell to the ground and as the ambulance crew attempted to help him, the victim continued to react aggressively. A call for assistance was made to the ambulance headquarters and three Local Police patrols eventually responded and managed to restrain and arrest the violent individual.

The two members of the ambulance crew were treated for bruises at Son Dureta Hospital and one is off work recovering from his injuries.
