The world has just witnessed the mess caused in Madrid by striking refuse collectors, now Palma could be facing the same fate this Christmas.

Palma.—Yesterday, the head of the works’ committee at the municipal refuse and water board EMAYA, Miguel Angel Romero, announced that staff are threatening strike action over Christmas and Easter and indefinitely from 15 June, right at the start of peak summer season.
Refuse workers in Madrid have recently ended strike action but after two weeks of  minimum services, images of mountains of waste in the capital appeared in the media and on TV around the world, an image Palma certainly does not need.
