THE Christmas lights are on at El Corté Inglés department stores in Palma. A snowflake backdrop created with light and sound tubes was switched on in the Avenidas by the store's regional director Manuel Torres Zurita.

Also installed at the premises in the Avenidas is a Christmas crib setting - several metres long. It represents the traditional manger scenes but in a uniquely Majorcan environment showing country people going about their daily lives.
