STAFF REPORTER A number of improvements have been made to the passenger information system at Palma airport, the national airports' authority (AENA) confirmed yesterday.

The most important changes, explained a spokesman, relate to the upgrade in information provided on screens and the limitation of announcements given to passengers by loudspeaker. The screen information, he said, has been fine-tuned to be “useful, practical and functional.” Palma airport is just one of a number belonging to the AENA network which have opted to provide a more satisfactory information service to passengers.
Having a quieter atmosphere, said the spokesman, promotes the quality of the airport environment, not just for passengers but for those who are having to work in it also.

Announcements relating to “last minute calls” will be minimised as they are potentially “a nuisance” to passengers other than those in the immediate environment of the embarcation gate, the spokesman said.
