Andratx.—Due to the increasing amount of builders' rubble and waste material that is being flytipped in the municipality of Andratx, the local council's Environment department is carrying out a series of thorough checks on sites where building or reform work is being carried out.

Department representatives and technicians will be ensuring that valid permits and paperwork are in order and that the site manager has a valid system for disposing of waste.

Caught in the act
Within just the last few days, Local Police intercepted a lorry carrying 3'000 kilos of builders' rubble alongside a recycling centre in Andratx.
An investigation was launched into just where so much waste material had come from and on the legality of the building site of origin.
Local Police have since discovered that this same lorry had already made three similar “dumps” at the recycling point. Investigators are similarly making enquiries about a flytip where lorries are discharging their loads on the son Fortuny road in Camp de Mar.
