Palma

.—The Spanish capital suffered last month after street cleaners refuse to collect the rubbish from the capital’s streets in protest for their rights. In Palma, Emaya’s works committee agreed yesterday to propose to the remaining workers to do the same. The union has called for a meeting on 19 December so street cleaners can now vote on the motion. Miguel Romero, president of the company’s committee explained the decision: "Around 28 workers from the night shift will be transferred to the day shift. This means they will lose the extra pay they get for working at night." Street cleaners also fear that once the rubbish removal service which is currently provided to Llucmajor is over, even more staff will have to work day shift.
