Palma.— Construction work on the new cycle lane stretch that will connect Jacint Verdaguer- Parc de Ses Veles and Son Cladera neighbourhoods will start next year, Palma city council informed yesterday.The department of transport for the council explained the 2.9 kilometre lane extension will be carried out during the first few months of 2014, although they did not specify a deadline.The budget for this project has been set at 27,000 euros.The local government confirmed its intention to add a further 5 kilometres of bicycle lanes during this legislature, and revealed plans to also start construction work in January on a cycle lane between Son Fuster and IES Juniper Serra.
