The Mayor of Palma, Mateo Isern, is confident that construction work of the convention centre complex should reconvene in January now that construction company Acciona has been paid the 43 million euros it was owed by the local authorities. Isern admitted that he does not know where the remaining 36 million euros needed to cover the cost of completing the project will come from but he said that the convention centre is a project of “maximum priority” and therefore every thing will de done in order to secure the financing to complete the project. Acciona would neither confirm they had been paid nor when work would recommence.
