PALMA
BALEARIC companies spend an average of 110 euros per person on Christmas presents for their employees, although more and more companies are choosing to organise lunches and dinners during the festive season, according to the President of PIMECO (Small and Medium Sized Businesses Association), Pere Ferrer, He said that the fashion for giving clients and workers products made on the islands, such as boxes of Majorcan wine, sausages and liqueurs is becoming more widespread, which gives “a touch of originality to special clients and employees.

Nevertheless, the traditional Christmas “basket” is still the “star” product amongst employees, the average cost being 110 euros.
In the case of good clients, institutions and big multinational companies choose a more “specific quality” gift. Among these are food products from the islands, accompanied by carefully selected festive packaging. “This is a good way to promote Majorcan products and to encourage their consumption during the festive season”, said Ferrer who added that it was good news for the local economy.

There are specialised companies who offer their clients a range of possibilities so that the gift will be as personalised as possible, as “companies are very aware that you have to speculate to accumulate”, he said.
