THE former Balearic Minister for Tourism and ex-Chairman of the Majorcan Unionist Party, Miguel Nadal, remained defiant as he emerged from court yesterday.

Nadal is one of a number of Majorcan Unionist Party political heavyweights implicated in Operation Make Up, another political scandal allegedly involving the misappropriation of public funds.

Nadal's alleged involvement in the scandal led to his resignation, in the best interests of his family, ten days ago and yesterday, he said that the court hearing had provided the opportunity to clear a number of issues up”.

Outside the court house, the former Minister said that he felt “satisfied and relaxed” about yesterday's proceedings.

However, the prosecution yesterday recommended to the judge that Nadal be made to give up his passport.
The application was approved late last night.
