Palma de Majorca.—The challenge for Balearic Travel Agencies (AVA) next year will be to adapt to the market and be competitive, Angel Martinez the President of the region's travel agencies' association said yesterday. Speaking at the AVA Annual General Meeting in Palma, Martinez said that although this year's tourist season had been “quite good” with an upturn of 10 percent in the number of visitors, it had to be remembered that the success had been prompted by political turmoil in North Africa. “What we have to do now is provide such a good service in the Balearics that these people will want to come again,” challenged Martinez. “We need to be competitive and show real innovation,” he said.
