Palma.—The former Partido Popular president of the Balearics and Spanish Minister for the Environment, Jaume Matas, has succeeded in having his nine month jail term postponed while central government  examines his plea to be pardoned.
Matas is embroiled in the Palma Arena corruption scandal and is facing a series of charges in connection with why the construction of the velodrome went 100 million euros over budget.
